You can support the Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre by volunteering
your time, skills and enthusiasm. We have a wonderful team of dedicated
volunteers, but always need more.
Volunteering provides a great opportunity to use your existing skills
and develop new ones to benefit others whilst meeting new people and
becoming a valued member of a team. The Olive Tree simply couldn’t
function without volunteers. Brief descriptions of some of the
opportunities follow below and our volunteering opportunities are also
listed on the national volunteering website
Trustees oversee the management and administration of the Olive Tree
to ensure that the charity is well-run and efficient. The Olive Tree
trustees meet once a month to discuss matters such as fundraising,
events, the provision of services and the recruitment of volunteers. In
addition, individual trustees may volunteer to take on additional
responsibilities such as accounts, admin, PR, event planning or
compliance.
As the first point of contact for visitors, staff and volunteers, you
will need a calm, friendly personality together with administration,
reception work or general office experience.
We would love to hear from anyone who is qualified in one or more
therapies such as Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage,
Acupuncture and Reiki and who is able to commit some time to
volunteering at the Olive Tree. You must be insured to practise and be a
member of a professional association.
We offer both counselling and coaching at the Olive Tree. All
counsellors must be fully qualified and members of the British
Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). They need to
have completed at least 50 clinical hours post qualification.
Supervision is provided for all team members. In addition to the full
team members we do have a limited number of student placements available
each year.
Coaches need to be qualified and certificated by a recognised
organisation. They also need to be in supervision (not provided in house
at the moment) and insured.
We are always keen to welcome new volunteers to out friendly and enthusiastic fundraising team, led by Sophia Rapley.
Volunteering as part of our fundraising team is rewarding and enjoyable and allows you put your skills and experience to good use.
You can commit as much or as little time as you wish, Please click here to find out more.
