Kinesiology for cancer patients

Kinesiology

Kinesiology

We offer Kinesiology to clients as part of the Centre’s holistic approach to care.  All therapists are fully qualified members of a Professional Body.

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology (pronounced kin-easy-ology) was developed by Dr. George Goodheart in1964. It is a way of identifying any imbalances a person has by monitoring their ability to hold their muscles against light pressure. Each muscle is related to an organ and also to an energy pathway called a meridian.  We have lots of muscles in our bodies connected by neuro pathways to different organs. By applying light pressure in the form of a muscle test, the kinesiologist is able to have ‘bio-feedback’ with that muscle, organ and meridian. If the muscle test is strong, no further action is required, however if the muscle is giving a ‘spongy’ response this may indicate further corrections are required.

How does it work?

Many different types of stress can disrupt the natural flow of energy through the body and disease is said to result when these pathways become blocked or imbalanced. A Kinesiologist can help individuals to identify these blockages by using muscle testing techniques. Kinesiology helps to uncover the root of your health issue by looking at physical, nutritional, emotional and energetic imbalances. A wide range of powerful techniques can then be used by the therapist to correct the problem.

What will happen at my session?

Completion of a detailed, confidential questionnaire is required prior to your first visit and the information therein discussed at length in the first session. You will be asked to remove your shoes and relax on a therapy couch, fully clothed, whilst you are being muscle tested.  If a muscle imbalance is found (i.e. spongy muscle) it can be corrected by a number of ‘tools’ a kinesiologist has been trained to check.  They include: Neurolymphatic massage, neuro-vascular holding points , various emotional stress release techniques, nutrition testing and support, acupressure, gentle structural realignment, chakra balancing, firm reflex massage, orchid flower essences and lifestyle changes and options that will help you back on your path to feeling healthy.

Full participation in your own treatment, i.e. making the suggested lifestyle and dietary changes that often form part of the treatment plan, are key to the success of this therapy.

How many sessions can I have?

The arrangement for Kinesiology is that each client is entitled to the initial consultation
which takes about an hour and a half and one follow up session, which is about an hour in duration.  Further appointments can be discussed with the therapist as a private arrangement if desired.

Where will the therapy take place?

Currently all Kinesiology appointments take place at the therapist's own premises.  Details will be supplied at the time of booking your appointment.

How do I book a therapy session?

If you are interested in an appointment with a Kinesiologist, please speak with one of the front desk team. They will provide you with a pack, which includes the questionnaire mentioned in this leaflet and the instructions for what you have to do next.  Appointments are made directly with the therapist who will call you.
