Head massage for cancer patients

Indian head massage

What is Indian Head Massage?

It is a qualified therapy originating in India. Although an ancient craft it is well suited to alleviate some of today's stress related conditions.

The techniques are applied to the upper body (shoulders, upper arms, neck and head) collectively they represent a de-stressing therapy for the whole body. It involves the therapist using their hands to knead, rub and squeeze soft body tissues such as the muscles.

  • It is non-invasive; the client remains clothed
  • It is relatively quick to perform
  • There are no special resources needed

Indian Head Massage:

  • Improves circulation
  • Aids lymphatic drainage
  • Aids stress relief
  • Neck & Shoulder tension

Occasionally clients may experience the following after treatment:-

  • Tiredness
  • Headache
  • Dizziness or nausea
  • Disrupted sleep
  • Heightened emotional state
  • Increased release of mucus in the nose and mouth after treatment

These symptoms are quite normal. They are a temporary cleansing process until the body's natural balance has been restored.

How many sessions can I have?

Prior to using the complementary therapies and treatments at the Olive Tree, you will meet with the Centre Manager to discuss the different therapies on offer and agree those which would best support your needs.

Members are entitled to 4 free sessions of any therapy they choose or a combination of therapies.
Following this we would request that circumstances allowing, members make a minimum donation of £5.00 per session.

Where will the therapy take place?

All therapy sessions take place in our dedicated therapy room at the centre. We have an electric couch which can be lowered to assist those with mobility difficulties. It can also be adjusted to a sitting or semi sitting position for those who prefer not to lie flat. Please discuss this with your therapist.

How do I book a therapy session?

All sessions are booked through the manager or an appointed volunteer. You can book in person, by telephone on 01293 534465 or by e-mail.
